    Carl Walther, "Piazza Duomo in San Gimignano" buntes Treiben vor dem Torre Rognosa und dem Palazzo del Podestá an der Piazza del Duomo, der mittelalterliche Stadtkern der toskanischen Stadt San Gimignano in der Provinz Siena gilt ob seiner zahlreichen imposanten Geschlechtertürme als "Mittelalterliches Manhattan“, auch Carl Walther weilte 1913 zu einer Studienreise in Italien und war dem Charme der romantischen Kleinstadt erlegen, ausgesprochen großformatige gratige Radierung mit satter Farbigkeit und trefflich erfasstem Licht, um 1913, rechts unten in der Platte ligiert monogrammiert "CW", links unter der Platte bezeichnet "Vorzugsdruck Nr. 3" und rechts ligiert handsigniert "C Walther", etwas fleckig und gegilbt, hinter Glas gerahmt (gelockert), Plattenmaße ca. 45,5 x 53,5 cm. Künstlerinfo: eigentlich Karl August Walther, dt. Carl Walther, "Piazza Duomo in San Gimignano" Colourful hustle and bustle in front of the Torre Rognosa and the Palazzo del Podestá in the Piazza del Duomo, the medieval town centre of the Tuscan town of San Gimignano in the province of Siena is known as "Medieval Manhattan" due to its numerous imposing towers, Carl Walther also went on a study trip to Italy in 1913 and succumbed to the charm of the romantic small town, extremely large-format burnished etching with rich colours and excellently captured light, around 1913, monogrammed "CW" in ligature in the lower right of the plate, inscribed "Vorzugsdruck Nr. 3" and signed "C Walther" in ligature to the right, somewhat stained and yellowed, framed behind glass (loosened), plate dimensions approx. 45.5 x 53.5 cm.
