    Gertrude Rupel-Wall (1881-1971) Unglazed Ceramic Dog c1920s. "Born in Greenville, OH on Feb. 9, 1881. Gertrude Rupel was a student at the Chicago Academy of Fine Arts and Herron Art Institute in Indianapolis. In 1922 she and her husband, James Wall, established the Walrich Pottery Company where they produced glass tiles and vases until the Depression when production ceased. She was a resident of Berkeley and on the faculty at UC Extension in 1938. Mrs. Wall died in San Mateo County, CA on July 3, 1971. Member: American Ceramic Society; Marin Art Society; SF Women Artists; Bay Region AA. Exh: San Francisco Art Association, 1916; SF Women Artists, 1938; Oakland Art Gallery, 1944 (solo); De Young Museum, 1945 (solo).” Cited from Edan Hughes book  Artist's in California.  Signed.  A few minor flecks to base, otherwise perfect condition.  7.75"w x 4.25" x 3.75"h.
