He studied from 1940 to 1941 and from 1945 to 1948 at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna with Josef Müller and Fritz Wotruba. From 1972, he lived and worked again in his birthplace Drosendorf. After completing his studies, Hermann Walenta worked as a freelance artist from 1948 onwards. He took part in numerous exhibitions at home and abroad, such as the Venice Biennale in 1951 with graphic works and in 1956 with sculptural works. In 1957 he took part in the Antwerp Biennale and the Tokyo and Osaka Biennale. In 1960 he was a participant in the St. Margarethen sculpture symposium, in 1970 in Lindabrunn, in 1970 in Krastal in Carinthia, in 1984 in Burgas in Bulgaria, in 1986 and 1987 in Nagyatád in Hungary and in 1990 and 1991 in Lasa in South Tyrol. Walenta's work has received several awards, for example in 1958 with the Promotion Prize of the City of Vienna, in 1967 with the Promotion Prize and in 1977 with the Culture Prize of the State of Lower Austria; 1980 with the gold medal and title of the Accademia d'Italia of the Accademia delle Arti e del Lavoro. His first solo exhibition took place in 1949 on the occasion of the International University Weeks in Alpbach, after which he exhibited in solo exhibitions in Paris, Vienna, Munich, Venice, Salzburg, Paris and Palm Beach until 1993. His first participation in group exhibitions took place at the Venice Biennale in 1952, and further group exhibitions took place in Tokyo, New York, Monte Carlo, Italy, Bulgaria, Hungary and South Tyrol. In the case of normal taxation (marked ° at the estimate), a premium of 24% is added to the highest bid. The mandatory sales tax is added to the sum of the highest bid and the buyer's premium. This amounts to 13% for paintings, drawings, graphic works and sculptures and 20% for photographs and all other items. The buyer's premium amounts to 28% in case of differential taxation. The sales tax is included in the differential taxation.
