      Keith Waite (British, 1927-2014) A cartoon for The Sun newspaper, depicting the prime minister of the day, Harold Wilson as King Canute, seated on a beach in The Isles of Scilly, holding back an oil slick from the Torrey Canyon disaster pen and ink and watercolour with minor corrections in white paint, signed lower right and dated 'Sun' 20.3.67' upper left 8 x 10 7/8in. (20.25 x 27.5cm.); together with another UK political cartoon by 'Vicky' (Victor Weisz) depicting the leader of the Conservative Party, Edward Heath, 'Thank goodness, we don't have a one-man-band like those Socialists!', pen and ink, watercolour and coloured pencil, signed and dated 'Vicky Brighton '65', 10 1/4 x 13 1/2in. (26 x 34.25cm.). (2) ** Condition: - Wilson: Good condition - paper very lightly and evenly time stained. No other faults. - Heath: Vertical fold crease through centre of drum and some smaller creases to paper visible. Paper has some time staining, a few dirty smudges, a few small fox marks and light mount burn. Small abraded patch to paper surface at lower right corner.
