Wagner ESTIMATE € 1000 - 2000 STARTING PRICE € 1000 The Austrian painter and graphic artist Richard Carl Wagner lived and worked in Perchtoldsdorf near Vienna. Wagner studied for two years with Anton Brenek at the Vienna Kunstgewerbeschule (School of Applied Art; Brenek’ tenure at the Kunstgewerbeschule: 1881 – 1905) and made his debut as a painter and graphic artist at the 43rd exhibition of the Vienna Secession in January 1913). Wagner also took part in the 46th Secession exhibition in January 1914. He received the Staatsmedaille (state medal) at the state exhibition in Klosterneuburg in 1935 and the Staatspreis (state prize) in Krems in 1936. PLEASE NOTE: The purchase price consists of the highest bid plus the buyer's premium, sales tax and, if applicable, the fee of artists resale rights. In the case of normal taxation (marked °), a premium of 24% is added to the highest bid. The mandatory sales tax of 13%, for photographys 20%, is added to the sum of the highest bid and the buyer's premium. The buyer's premium amounts to 28% in case of differential taxation. The sales tax is included in the differential taxation.

Allegro' With inscription 'R. Wagner' Bust of the German composer and writer Richard Wagner (1813-1883) Total dimensions: 41 x 25.5 x 17 cm; bust 32 x 25.5 x 17 cm (height x width x depth) Very good condition Provenance: From the former sample stock of the Bergmann factory in Vienna This bust shows the expressive face of no on less that the writer of the opera 'Tristan & Isolde', which he completed in 1859 in Venice, the place where he also died later and where the sculptor of this bust most probably received his inspiration. Back then as well as today, Richard Wagner is doubtlessly one of the most well-known German composers. On his head, he is wearing a beret, a scarf and a jacket with a wide collar. The bust is in very good condition with slight traces of wear. Remains of glue and a crack are visible in the marble plinth. The artist's signature 'S. Allegro' is located verso on the bust; the badge with the inscription 'R. Wagner' in front. The total dimensions are 41 x 25.5 x 17 cm the bust is 32 x 25.5 x 17 cm (height x width x depth) in size. Shipping costs excl. statutory VAT and plus 2,5% (+VAT) shipping insurance.
