      HANS FRIEDRICH WACHA (GERMAN 1885-1964) ARR Pastorale Signed lower left Oil on canvas 81.5 x 109cm (32 x 43in) Footnote: Wacha received the Order by the Austrian Government to work for them as war correspondent between 1914-18. A number of paintings of the "isonzo front" (Italy) are registered at the Heeresmuseum Wien. This painting bears the inscription WIEN XIX on the stretcher. Wacha fled the Russian military at the end of the 2nd World War and left many of his paintings behind.
