There is a hairline scratch visible to the upper left corner and paint loss is visible to the lower left corner. Inspection under UV shows no apparent signs of restoration. N.B.       1930. Canvas. oil. 84x108 cm. Konstantin Vysotsky was one of the best and most famous animalist painters in Russia and Latvia. From 1885 to 1891 he studied at the Moscow School of Painting. Sculpture and Architecture under Vladimir Makovsky. Vasily Polenov. Evgraf Sorokin and Illarion Pryanishnikov. Essentially. Konstantin Vysotsky painted in academic realism style with some elements of impressionism. he remains faithful to the precepts of a good old school. and. standing aside from all innovations. wins his sincerity. His palette is fresh and sunny; the drawing is clear. truthful. From 1892 his paintings were exhibited at exhibitions of the Moscow Society of Art Lovers. Moscow Association of Artists. and the Society of Travelling Art Exhibitions. Konstantin Vysotsky had solo exhibitions in Russia before the Revolution and in Riga (1921. 1928. 1930. 1938). He participated in exhibition of Russian artist emigrants: Copenhagen (1927. 1929). Prague (1928). Berlin (1930). Los Angeles (1932). Helsinki. London etc.
