      Kathleen Voute (American, 1892-1973), "Wayside," watercolor on paper, signed lower right and dated 1939, measures 18 x 22 inches to the matt edge, overall in the frame it measures 27 x 29.75 inches. CONDITION: Good, no glass present. Voute was from Montclair, New Jersey, and was both a painter and illustrator, particularly known for her illustrations done for children's books. She was also a respected member of the American Watercolor Society, where she exhibited between 1928 and 1936. Voute was the winner of the "watercolor medal" at the New Jersey Artists exhibition held at the Montclair Museum of Art in 1931.
