      PERE VIVER AYMERICH (Terrassa, 1873 - 1917) "Landscapes", 1897. Pair of oil paintings on canvas, unpainted. Signed and dated. Measurements: 71 x 46 cm; 88 x 63 cm (frame). Pere Viver is one of the representatives of landscape painting in Terrassa, together with J. Vancells, of whom he was a disciple. His family owned a decorative painting business, where he and his brother Tomàs (1876-1951), also a painter, trained. He completed his artistic training at the Llotja in Barcelona and at the Baixas Academy. Throughout his career he produced easel and decorative paintings and took part in various official exhibitions in Barcelona and Madrid. In 1898, the two Viver brothers worked with A. Deriquer at the cafè català del raval in Terrassa, where they introduced European symbolist elements. Another of Pere Viver's works are the decorative paintings of the Pere Màrtir Armengol house (1909), recovered for the Terrassa museum. Viver's early works show a language close to that of J. Vancells, although he was later influenced by A. Deriquer, who mainly manifested himself in decorative painting, and he ended up producing a type of painting close to the new avant-garde. As an easel painter, his most outstanding works are those centred on landscapes.
