Mark Vinsun Sold at Auction Prices

b. 1961 -

Mark Vinsun was born November 6, 1961 in Cape Cod, Massachusetts. He studied at the School of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston where he received a BFA in 1985 in painting. Vinsun continued his studies at the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts in Philadelphia, PA in 1999, where he received a MFA.

In the early 80's Vinsun moved to New York City where he met his mentor/teacher and friend the late Spanish abstract expressionist painter Esteban Vicente and became his studio assistant. Also, at this time he studied and traveled extensively
in Europe. After returning back to the US Vinsun worked at the Bob Blackburn Printmaking Workshop where Vinsun met and assisted abstract expressionist painters Fred Mitchell and Mary Abbott. In the 90's Vinsun went on to work for the Whitebox Gallery in New York for artist/gallerist Juan Puntas. Soon after he was invited to be an Artist in Residence at the Altos De Chavon Art School in La Romana, Dominican Republic. For a brief time Vinsun lived in San Juan, Puerto Rico where he was invited by gallerist Guillermo Rodriguez to join his gallery La Calle de Cristo in Old San Juan. After returning back to NY In 1997 Vinsun, along with interior designer and gallerist Leonides Rosa Molinar founded Atelier Arts NY, which is now presently known as LeonidesArts NY.
