Louis Èmile Villa, an outstanding painter of the XIXth century, distinguished himself by his mastery in the representation of beautiful women wrapped in the elegance of the XVIIIth century, inside luxurious scenes of the epoch. Influenced by the nostalgic fervor that characterized the second half of the 19th century, Villa trained under the tutelage of Charles Gleyre and Auguste Glaize. In this particular painting, a model adorns an oriental-style dress, exquisitely ornamented with lace and silks, highlighting the artist's skill in recreating ethereal fabrics and pure colors. The young woman gracefully and elegantly holds something in one hand, while with the other she touches a heron, a gesture that emphasizes the purity of her pastime and the beauty of her personality.       ZWEI FRAUEN MIT EINEM KLEINEN VOGEL Öl auf Leinwand. 94 x 88 cm. Rechts unten signiert „E. Villa.“. Französischer Maler, Studium an der École des Beaux-Arts in Paris, zusammen mit Frédéric Bazille (1841-1870). In den 1880er-Jahren widmete er sich vorwiegend Neorenaissance-Themen aber auch Genrebildern, die er im Salon von 1861 bis 1885 ausstellte   Am geöffneten Dachfenster eines vornehmen Hauses zwei junge Frauen, eine davon verbirgt sich hinter dem grünen Vorhang des Fensters, während die andere sich über die Eisenbrüstung gebeugt hat, um einen in einem kleinen Netz gefangenen Vogel zu befreien. Sie trägt eine weiße Haube mit Schleife und dazu ein glänzendes rot-weißes Kleid mit Spitze an den Ärmeln. Das Netz mit dem kleinen roten Holzgitter liegt auf der Fensterbank in der Brüstung, auf der sich noch zwei Blumentöpfe, einer davon mit Veilchen, und eine umgefallene weiße Henkelkanne, aus der Blumen hervorragen, befinden. French painter, studied at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris together with Frédéric Bazille (1841-1870). Vor einem grün tapezierten Interieur mit Boudoir-Mobiliar, im Stil der Renaissance, ein Akt einer jungen Frau, welche den Psychenspiegel auf einem Halbschrank zu sich dreht. Die Kleidung, welcher sie sich entledigt hat, liegt auf einem blau tapezierten Stuhl, der am linken Außenrand des Gemäldes erscheint.
