Cover and contents unbound. Mixed media including ink, graphite, gouache, watercolor, and colored pencil. Illustrated front and rear covers (paper over board, versos also illustrated); 10 leaves of preliminaries including printing notes, tables of contents, dedication, half-title, and a few page mock-up; 37 pages of calligraphed rhyming verse with illustrations and decorative borders. Footnote: Exhibited "Myth and Reality: Elihu Vedder and American Painters in Italy," Questroyal Fine Art, New York, New York, May 10 - 31, 2012, in the exhibition catalogue, no. 16 (illustrated). Condition report: In overall very good condition. Three diagonal surface scratches are present along the lefthand side of the painting, the longest measuring approximately 2" in length. Two small spots of inpainting are present at center middle, the larger approximately 1/4" in diameter. See Specialist's photos for details. Frame: 12 3/4 x 17 5/8 x 1 in.
