Afghan War of 1878-80, India and England Album of 63 photographs, the majority albumen prints. 1878-96. Varying sizes from 33/4 x 2 7/8in (9.5 x 7.3cm.) to 11 x 141/4in. (27.9 x 36.2cm.) or the reverse. Some variously credited or initialled, titled and/or numbered in the negative, including J.V. (2) and Hudson's Series (2); occasional title and/or date in ink on the mount. Inscribed in ink on front free endpaper The figures (lower) in pictures 1-24 refer to Bourne & Shepherds (Simla) dist of photographs taken with the Kurman Column.... Blue half leather, gilt. Album size: 13 x 17in. (33.1 x 43.2cm.) NOTES 24 images of the Afghan War, each captioned and sequentially numbered in ink on the mount. Many group portraits, both English and Indian subjects, taken in 1890s and a few architectural views and landscapes.
