John Valadez Art for Sale at Auction

b. 1951 -

John Valadez was born in Los Angeles, California, and studied at East Los Angeles Junior College 1970-1972. Valadez completed education at the California State University, Long Beach, receiving a B.F.A. degree in 1986. Valadez is a realist painter who deals with the urban landscape and the people of Los Angeles where he was born, and continues to live. He is a muralist whose work has been compared to that of Richard Estes, the photorealist whose works in the 1970s documented urban settings with astonishing veracity. Valadez, however is not as documentary as Estes in his approach. Valadez paints highly realistic images from the imagination --the world of dreams or hallucinations rooted in earthly experiences. Valadez' awards, commissions and group exhibitions are extensive. Solo exhibitions in museums include two at the Carnegie Art Museum in Oxnard, CA. (2000 & 2001) and one at the Museum of Contemporary Hispanic Art, New York City (1986). His mural commissions are to be seen in the Federal Bujilding at border crossing Station, Isleta, TX; The Santa Ana Federal Court House Administration building in California, the Pasadena Metro Godline Memeorial Park Station, Pasadena, and the Junipero Serra State Building Mural Project, State of California, Los Angeles, Ca. Records for Valadez show an abundant number of critical reviews and press publications as well as a highly active exhibition record throughout the nation. He is an artist with extensive biographical data listed in Who’s Who in American Art in 2010 p. 1378. That source cites his mailing address as : c/o Daniel Saxon Gallery, 552 Norwich Dr., West Hollywood, CA. 90048.
