"Osen" (Der Herbst) -- Öl auf Karton. 1986. -- 80,5 x 50 cm. -- Unten rechts mit Pinsel in Schwarz kyrillisch signiert "Vaisberg" und datiert, oben rechts nochmals mit Pinsel in Orange kyrillisch signiert und datiert (um 60° gedreht), verso nochmals signiert "Matvej Semenovich", datiert, betitelt, mit der Adresse des Künstlers und mit einem Stempel in Kyrillisch. -- -- Der jüdische Maler, Graphiker und Buchkünstler Matvij Vaisberg stammt väterlicherseits aus einer Schachspielerdynastie und ist mütterlicherseits Enkel des Dichters Matvey Harzman. Er studierte in Kiew an der Staatlichen Kunstschule und später Buchillustration an der Ukrainischen Druckakademie. Vaisberg war Mitbegründer der späten sowjetischen und frühen ukrainischen "Arrière-Garde"-Bewegung in den 1980er Jahren. Matvij Vaisbergs Werke befinden sich heute in vielen internationalen Museen, u.a. im Magnes Museum in Berkeley oder im Mauermuseum Berlin. Signature and date in the bottom right, 100 x 70 cm. // // Matvey Vaisberg (born 1958) One of the most significant Ukrainian painters of our time, graphic artist and book illustrator. Born in Kyiv. Member of the All-Ukrainian Creative Union of Artists „BeZhe-ART“. Author of illustrations for works of Sholom Aleichem, J. Ortega y Gasset ("Essays on Spain"), C. G. Jung ("Memories. Dreams. Reflections"), S. Kierkegaard ("Fear and Trembling"), F. Dostoevsky ("The Possessed"). He has participated in over 50 solo and group exhibitions, including at the National Museum of Art (1997, 2012), the Berlin Wall Museum, the Ukrainian Institute of America (New York, 2014), the European House (London, 2014) and many others. The works are stored in the National Art Museum of Ukraine, the Museum of Modern Art in Odesa, the National Museum "Kyiv Art Gallery", the Gaon Jewish State Museum in Vilna (Vilnius), in the National Art Museum of Ukraine and many others. In 2014, the Magnes Museum (Berkeley, California) acquired 12 works by Matvey Vaisberg. The dramatic events of 2014 for Ukraine were embodied in a project called "The Wall. 28.01 - 08.03.2014", it was immediately presented in Kyiv, followed by a large-scale project "Maidan. Road to Freedom", presented around the world. A retrospective exhibition by Matvey Vaisberg entitled “The Human Factor” was held at the National Art Museum of Ukraine in 2019. During the exhibition, the artbook "Painting" was presented.
