      Atribuido a Francesco Picano y Lorenzo Vaccaro (Sant'Elia, Nápoles, 1677/78-1743) (Nápoles, 1655-Torre del Greco, Italia, 1706) San Miguel arrojando a Satanás al infierno. Talla en madera policromada. Se representa al santo como general de las huestes celestiales, vestido como soldado romano con peto, faldellín y capa. Porta yelmo, en la mano derecha una espada y en la izquierda un escudo. Aparece venciendo a Satanás, imagen que se hizo polpular en el ambiente artístico de la Contrareforma y del Barroco por su dramatismo y porque personificaba a la perfección el triunfo de la Iglesia Católica contra la herejía. El rostro de facciones delicadas, la decoración de la coraza y la elegancia de la posición de las piernas nos remite a los modelos de Lorenzo Vaccaro como el realizado en mármol para la iglesia de Santa Maria della Misericordia de Foggia o el de plata de la Capilla del Tesoro de San Gennaro de la Catedral de Nápoles. Extraordinario trabajo, de gran expresividad, que destaca por la sensación de movimiento elegante y equilibrado. Inspirado en el prototipo del Santo creado por Luca Giordano, figura que parece danzar, desplegadas sus alas y sus brazos apoyando uno solo de sus pies sobre el ángel caído. Se conserva una talla similar realizada en 1705 en el Country Museum of Art, Los Angeles,California.Bibliografía de referencia. "Francesco Antonio Picano: Nella Scultura del Settecento Napoletano".
