    black pencil, pen and watercolor on pinkish brown paper (backed) mm 372 x 283 on the recto , two unidentified marks; on the verso , unidentified mark (Lugt n. 2715b) and collection inventory number "144 EP" [Eleuterio Pagliano (Lugt n. 894a)] The original allegorical invention celebrates, in the upper part, the Church (or Religion) that mirrors itself in the Truth, while at the bottom there are five chained figures, which allude to the infidels, to whom a soldier with a torch in his hand shows the Truth. We point out a painting on copper by Vaccaro, at the Walters Art Museum in Baltimore (Maryland, USA), similar in composition to the drawing offered in the lot but larger in format and more refined in details.

    PAAR GEFLÜGELTE ENGELSKÖPFE IN WEISSEM MARMOR Höhe: je ca. 39 cm. Breite: ca. 54 cm. Neapel, um 1690/ 1700. Durch Dokumentation zugeschrieben, entsprechend beiliegendem Gutachten von Maurizio Marini vom 23. März 2006, Rom, mit Vergleichsverweis auf einen Wächterengel der Kirche San Paolo Maggiore sowie weitere Werke des Meisters in Neapel. Die Köpfe qualitätvoll gemeißelt, als Gegenstücke jeweils nach rechts bzw. leicht nach links gewandt. Das Haar in großen bauschigen Locken vorgeführt mit betonter Stirnlocke, was stilistisch noch in das Ende des 17. Jahrhunderts führt. Die Flügel jeweils schulterartig leicht hochgezogen.     (Napoli 1678 - 1745) Rachele e Giacobbe al pozzo Olio su tela, cm 156X110 La tela in esame si data al XVIII secolo e spicca per la felice esuberanza cromatica e la luminosità della stesura, contraddistinta da pennellate vivaci e raffinati cangianti che modellano i panneggi. Queste caratteristiche insieme alle tipologie fisionomiche hanno suggerito l'attribuzione a Domenico Antonio Vaccaro. Il pittore fu allievo di Francesco Solimena, svolgendo una sintesi in chiave settecentesca tra lo stile del maestro e la felice cromia di Luca Giordano, come si evince nella decorazione di Santa Maria di Monte Vergine (1728). Nel nostro caso, l'autore replica un dipinto assai celebre del Solimena custodita nel Museo dell'Accademia di Venezia. Bibliografia di riferimento: N.
