Pedro Uhart (b. 11/9/1938). A figurative painter, his works are influenced by the folkloric tradition of his native land. He combines his poetic imagination which comes close to that of the primitives, with contemporary graphic design such as in is posters, popular cartoons, and children's ilustrations.

Uhart studied law and economics at the University of Concepción, but was always attracted to painting. In 1965 he moved to Europe and began to study at the École des beaux-arts in Paris, but he soon abandoned it since he considered the education as far too academic.
