Contributions to the Natural History of Alaska, No. II, 11 chromolithographed plates of birds after Robert Ridgway, 15 plates of fish, some tissue guards, ink ownership inscription to front endpaper dated 1900, title lightly soiled and browned, contemporary half morocco, rubbed, 1886 § Nelson (Edward W.) Report upon the Natural History Collections made in Alaska between the years 1877 and 1881, No. III, 12 chromolithographed plates after R. & J.L. Ridgway, 9 plates of fish, some tissue guards (worn, one renewed), inkstamps to rear endpaper and pastedown, some marginal damp-staining to plates, occasional light spotting or soiling, heavier to endpapers, gutter split at points with contents a little shaken, original cloth, quite worn, light staining to covers, 1887, [Nissen ZBI 4184 & 2962], 4to, Washington, D.C.; and others on the birds of Alaska and Canada, v.s. (10) ⁂ The two mentioned constituting Nos. II & III of the Arctic Series issued in connection with the Signal Service, U.S. Army. Robert Ridgway was an ornithologist at the Smithsonian Institution who established a system of colour standards and nomenclature still used today.
