The almost lifelike spiritual animals are exquisite and delicate, but they reveal a sense of mystery. Through his extraordinary sentiments towards the myths in Japanese culture, Tsuchiya bestows his sculptures with the agility of life, mysterious yet graceful. Tsuchiya used the technique of "Glass eye" which uses crystals installed inside the eyes of the Japan Buddha statues. In recent years, Tsuchiya has collaborated with glass artist Fukuo Tanaka to bring life to sculptures with original glass eyes. The posture and spirituality of creatures have always been the axis of Tsuchiya's creation. It is not difficult to find out that, besides creation, his greatest interest is planting flowers and plants in his own yard. From Tsuchiya's works on botanical theme, it can be seen that the artist's meticulous description of flowers and plants begins with his daily observations and preferences. Tsuchiya adopts a stray cat at home, and uses the cat's various funny poses as a source of inspiration. Tsuchiya has created a variety of works with feline themes that are diverse and rich, including leopards and lions. The artist's cat-themed creations were exhibited in the solo exhibition "Cat Gathering" (2015) and the group exhibition "with cat" (2018).

In 2003, he obtained an MA Conservation Course from the same university. His 2010 solo exhibition "Currents in Japanese Contemporary Wood Sculpture" was phenomenal and attracted a substantial number of audiences. In his 2012 solo exhibition Sylvan Whispers, he was created with Japanese cypress and camphorwood, mostly real life animals and mythological creatures. With his expertise and experience in restoration on wooden buddha sculptures, he created vivid and soulful creatures.
