Sight seen approx. 22" x 28", overall frame size approx. 27-1/2" x33-1/2". Canvas has areas of craquelure, and light surface wear. Frame also shows wear and damage throughout.

Jules (Jean-Baptiste) Trayer (1824 Paris - 1909 ebenda) Aufmunternder Besuch Szenische, erzählerische Darstellung mit sitzender Dame in einem Fauteuil, die von einer hinzutretenden jungen Frau vertraut auf die Stirn geküsst wird und deren Hand nimmt. Fein lasierend gemaltes Werk des französischen Genremalers, der bei Justin Lequien an der Académie Suisse lernte und 1847-1882 regelmäßig im Salon ausstellte. Außer bürgerlichen Interieurszenen malte Trayer vornehmlich Motive aus dem Leben bretonischer Fischer. Öl/Eichenholztafel. L. u. sign. u. dat. 1858. 56 cm x 46 cm. Wohl Original-Rahmen. Oil on oak panel. Signed and dated 1858.
