Combining the attractions of the modern world and the natural world, Trapp depicts the image of a man mid tennis swing, against the majestic backdrop of the Engstligen Falls, which, at almost 2000 feet high, is the second highest waterfall in Switzerland. This bold poster was created for the fiftieth anniversary of the opening of the famous Gotthard Tunnel in Switzerland. Opened in 1882 as the longest tunnel in the world, the Gotthard Tunnel is almost ten miles long and cuts through the Alps. It was an integral part of a master plan to connect the North Sea with the Mediterranean by rail, and is still considered a major feat in transportation history. It was built and is still maintained by Swiss Federal Railways, the company that commissioned this poster by Willy Trapp in 1932. Willy Trapp (1905-1984) was a Swiss-German poster artist who created many wonderful designs for advertising campaigns, mostly travel posters like this one. This is an Original Vintage Poster; it is not a reproduction. This poster is conservation mounted, linen backed, and in very good condition. It has been archivally restored in the bottom text portion of the poster with some light touchup work. We guarantee the authenticity of all of our posters

The town of Kandersteg is miniature as well, just over 600 residents in the entire district, but it offers big natural thrills. The vantage point of this poster is true to life: the rugged peaks of the Blümlisalp framed in its valley; the skier's blue snowboots rest right around where the town is situated in the vista. The idyllic holiday resort town of Adelboden, Switzerland in the Bernese Oberland region is brought to splendid life by artist Willy Trapp (1905-1984) on this original travel poster from 1928. Cozy chalets warm devoted skiers throughout the winter months, and stunning vistas await summer hiking enthusiasts. Printed over eighty- five years ago, the poster displays exceptionally vibrant color and has incurred only minimal signs of handling: staple holes in the top and bottom border, a light spot in the bottom right corner, edge wear, and a tear in the top right and bottom right corner with archival tissue tape on the verso.
