The couple and their daughter acquired pieces individually during their travels around Western Europe, Toronto, and New York, and ultimately amassed around 300 vessels and sculptures by artists including Fulvio Bianconi, Toots Zynsky, Carlo Scarpa, Ercole Barovier, Paolo Venini, Vittorio Ferro and others. "My husband became a student of the art he collected," recalls Mrs. N. and their daughter. "With each new artist he admired, he would buy books about them, and the biographies and catalogs became catalysts for acquiring more pieces. He was always looking for variety, and he would seek out individual pieces to round out a segment of the collection. When something caught his eye, he pounced on it, and if he couldn't have that particular piece, he'd search for one like it."
