ANTONIO TORRES ALBA (Albacete, 1969). "To Charlot's surprise, a great gift". Series Ballerinas nº496. Acrylic on canvas. Attached certificate issued by the author. Measurements: 80 x 80 cm. In this work Antonio Torres Alba conserves his favorite subject matter by presenting a small young girl dressed as a dancer. This innocent young girl holds a red balloon that seems to be offered to the other character in the scene. On a pedestal reminiscent of a mime, an upright man dressed as Charles Chapling can be seen. Both characters are hieratic as if frozen in time, a sensation that imprints a certain nostalgia, and in a way brings to mind the 1592 film "Candlesticks" starring Chaplin, which is the story of a dancer who cannot dance and a clown who can no longer make people laugh.
