Kristians TONNY. Untitled: Study Sheet. 1928. Original drawing signed and dated lower right, brown ink on paper (47 x 61.5 cm). Superb original drawing by Kristians Tonny executed in 1928. Dutch-born surrealist painter and draughtsman Tonny Kristians alias Kristians Tonny (1907-1977) followed his parents to Paris in 1913. Encouraged by his father and by Jules Pascin, whose influence he underwent, he exhibited his drawings very early. In 1925, the Pierre gallery exhibited him with Louis Marcoussis and, in March 1928, Jeanne Bucher organised a personal exhibition for him. A little-known figure in the surrealist movement, his works are rare, especially those from before the war. Tonny was exhibited in 1926-1927 at the Aux quatre chemins gallery with Borès, Bosschère, Gomez de la Serna and Miró. Provenance: - Galerie Pierre, Paris; - Former Henriette and André Gomès collection. Sans titre: feuille d'études. 1928. Dessin original signé et daté en bas à droite, encre brune sur papier (47 x 61,5 cm). Superbe dessin original de Kristians Tonny exécuté en 1928. Peintre et dessinateur surréaliste d'origine hollandaise, Tonny Kristians alias Kristians Tonny (1907-1977) suivit ses parents à Paris dès 1913. Encouragé par son père et par Jules Pascin dont il subit l'influence, il exposa ses dessins très tôt. En 1925, la galerie Pierre l'expose avec Louis Marcoussis et, en mars 1928, Jeanne Bucher lui organisa une exposition personnelle. Figure méconnue du mouvement surréaliste, ses oeuvres sont rares, singulièrement celles d'avant-guerre. Tonny avait été exposé en 1926-1927 à la galerie Aux quatre chemins avec Borès, Bosschère, Gomez de la Serna et Miró.
