Rico Tomaso Sold at Auction Prices

Painter, Illustrator, b. 1898 - d. 1985

Artist Rico Tomaso was well known for his illustrations in men's mystery and adventure publications. Much of his work was created for the Saturday Evening Post and TRUE magazine. Paintings done for U.S. Steel, Pepsi, Coca-Cola, New York Life, and Texaco were all used for advertising and are among the most recognized Rico Tomaso prints.

While most of his colorful paintings were redistributed as lithographs to satisfy the commercial market, in the 1960s artist Rico Tomaso attempted to focus on creating fine art. The primary style of Rico Tomaso's paintings for sale was always portrait and genre based. The portraits he did for the cover of TRUE magazine represented ideal masculinity, the man's man, and the working man.
