    Miniatur Portrait der britischen Prinzessin Amelia (1783-1810) in weißem Kleid, ein geknotetes Tuch im blonden Haar; vor rotem Vorhang. Auf dem Deckpapier signiert und mit Ortsangabe datiert "Painted by / W. J. Thomson / 53 Piccadilly / March. / 1803.". Aquarell und Gouache auf Elfenbein. 3,9 x 2,9 cm (oval). In vergoldetem Metallrahmen mit blauem Emailleband. Beigegeben: kleine ovale Miniatur, deutsch um 1800, Portrait eines Mannes im Profil nach links. Aquarell und Gouache auf Papier. 2,7 x 2,2 cm. In goldenem Broschenrahmen mit Kügelchenrand, rückseitig Goldinitialen "TSJ" auf Haarpaneel unter Glas (nicht abgebildet). Nach dem großformatigen Gemälde von Sir William Beechey (1797) auf Schloß Windsor. Amelia war das jüngste der 15 Kinder und die sechste Tochter des britischen Königs Georg III. und seiner Gattin Prinzessin Charlotte von Mecklenburg-Strelitz. 1803, im Entstehungsjahr vorliegender Miniatur, verliebte sich die Prinzessin unsterblich in den Stallmeister Sir Charles Fitzroy, durfte ihn aber nicht heiraten. Seit ihrer Jugend von schlechter Gesundheit, starb sie 1810 auf Schloß Windsor. He later moved to Scotland where he was made an Academician of the Royal Scottish Academy in 1829.

    William John Thomson RSA (American 1771-1845) Born Savannah USA 1771, returned to his ancestral home of Scotland 1812. Member of the Royal Scottish Academy. Thomson famed for his miniature works, several of which are on display at the Met in NYC The Gleaner, 1825. Oil on board in good condition. Nicely framed, not original frame. Comes with letter from National Gallery of Scotland establishing Thomson as the artist. The painting was exhibited in the National Gallery in 1827

Hannah worked at Whitehaugh for 13 years from 1833 to 1846.
