Biography

James Thacker Artist in Brooklyn NYC. Inspirations include the classical, baroque, modernism, and contemporary alternative culture. A bit of a mash up. I have worked and studied in Europe many years, mostly in Italy and Germany. My work reflects an appreciation and knowledge of Western visual culture in terms of technique and style, as well as certain subject matter. I apply this to more current themes of personal interest such as queer, punk, and biker culture, all of which, I believe, share a pagan aesthetic with my art historical sources. I paint primarily in oils on primed archival museum board. BFA from the Cooper Union. I have exhibited internationally, am collected in both private and public collections, and am published in three books.
