Gunther Temech, Austrian, 1942- 2010, Untitled, signed and dated lower right 86', ink, watercolor, spray paint. [A07} along with a signed painting depicting African persons,oil on canvas, signed lower right "NDAMBO "18 x 22. Note: Temech is a painter and illustrator known for his Abstract, sometimes Cubist paintings in the Modernist style. He was the illustrator for The Los Supper, The Last Generation, published in New York in 1990. He was also active in many political causes in New York City during the last part of the Twentieth Century. Gunther Temech was born in Austria where he received a diploma from the Academy of Art and then lived as a working artist in Vienna, Munich and Paris. From France, he arrived in New York City and was amazed by the city's vitality and strength. His work was definitely influenced by American culture and thought.Nevertheless, he enjoyed his European roots and returned there in a regular basis. Gunther had many successful exhibitions in Austria, Switzerland and France, and has also exhibited extensively in America. His work has been described as highly original and inventive. Temech sold his art on the streets of New York like many who aspire to be recognized and simply wanted to share their art with the world. As a painter and illustrator, Temech was known for his abstract take on Cubism – much like Picasso – with a Modernist twist. Note: Arnold and Dora Stern were collectors of Outsider, Tramp and American Folk Art, Cuban and Haitian art. A portion of their Tramp art collection on permanent display at the Newark Museum in New Jersey
