John Tayson (Colorado, Illinois, born 1956)

At the age of 18, John Tayson went to sea as a merchant seaman. It was at this time, he developed a deep interest in nautical and marine painting. After returning home, he continued his training with his father expanding his technique and range of mediums. This led to a long, successful art career with extensive gallery sales to private collectors throughout the United States and internationally. John??™s primary published works were in collaboration with Unicover Corporation, the Lakota Sioux Museum, and the Cheyenne Symphony Orchestra.
In 1999 he sailed from Seattle on a 33??? sloop to be inspired by wherever the winds and weather would lead him. After several years and many stops they found themselves at the western entrance of the Panama Canal. The beautiful landscape and colorful lifestyle inspired John to create a series of maritime oil paintings which were received enthusiastically by collectors.
John remains a sailing enthusiast upon his sailboat, the Cloverbrook.
