THREE SKETCHBOOK SHEETS: VIEWS OF HAARLEM measurements note two circa 100 by 245 mm; one 128 by 185 mm each inscribed with identification of the view, in grey ink, lower margin: Buyten de Grootehoutpoort te Haarlem; de Zylpoort te Haarlem; de Groote Houtpoort te Haarlem all pen and brown ink, within framing lines Quantity: 3 NOTE These three drawings are extremely similar to a set of four views of Leiden, sold, Amsterdam, Sotheby's, 10 November 1998, lot 180. The Leiden views were initially catalogued as 'Attributed to Abraham de Haen', but prior to the sale, Leonard Kasteleyn recognised them as rare naar het leven studies by Tavenier, which he would have used as the basis for his more finished drawings and watercolours.
