Good condition Estimate $3,000-$5,000 Read left to right, this acrylic painting depicts several stages of construction from different vantage points with the largest being the completed building of modern design with rounded corners. Tarlow shows high sensitivity to light and reflection as exhibited in much of his other works of urban scenes. Philip Tarlow (American, b. 1940) Born in Brooklyn, Philip Tarlow was encouraged to pursue art from a young age. His interest in the core subject matter of his paintings of construction workers, Greece, and architecture were also established during his childhood. After attending Antioch College, he had a pivotal meeting with art historian and curator Henry Geldzahler who taught him about Abstract Expressionism. Tarlow then traveled to Greece where he lived for fifteen years, during which he also studied at the Courtauld Institute in London for one year. He debuted with the Ora Gallery in Athens in 1971 and had his first solo exhibition at the same venue three years later. Tarlow continues to exhibit worldwide, and his works have been collected widely by museums and commercial organizations. Condition Less than a pencil eraser-size brown spot lower right, 3 in. to the right of tree. Otherwise in overall good condition.
