Jack was an artist specializing in painting. He became well known in Norway and internationally for his work.

"The "professor", so affectionately was called the Norwegian painter Jack Friling from the panicagliesi; A somewhat eccentric character, Jack used to dress regularly all year with a nice heavy jacket, boots and a hat."

"Born in Drammen, Norway on October 24, 1927, he lived in many of the last years of his life between Panicaglia, where he lived with a lady of the place, and his homeland."

From 1946 to 1948 he studied with prof. Bjarne Engebreth. From 1949 to 1952 at Oslo State Academy of Art and with Professorr Krogh. He also studied painting and sculpture in England, France, Spain and also in Italy, at the Academy of Fine Arts in Florence with Prof. Brass Roses."

"He was a member of the Historical Archives of the Venice Biennale from 1959. In 1970 he received a certificate from the "Fiorentini Tourist Activities Center" for over 15 years in Florence. He was appointed honorary citizen of Gubbio in 1959 and of Pompeii in 1980."
