    Michio Takayama (Japanese/American, 1903-1994). Oil on canvas painting titled "Angel of Mars" depicting vibrant red abstract scene, possibly of a figure. Signed along the lower right. Further signed, titled, and inscribed "#900 633" along the stretcher along the verso. In Japan, Takayama spent eight years studying with noted landscape painter Shin Kurihara. By the 1950s he and his wife were introduced by a former painting student to Taos, New Mexico, where they eventually decided to take up a permanent residence. He exhibited throughout the Southwest and Southern California until the end of his life. Provenance: Distinguished Corporate Collection, Minnesota.
