Agnès Tait est née en 1894 à New-York. Après avoir obtenu son diplôme d'études secondaires, elle remporta de nombreux prix à la National Academy of Design. En 1927, après quelques semaines d'étude à l'École des Beaux-Arts de Paris, elle fonda son propre atelier à Manhattan. Sa première exposition a eu lieu avec d'autres artistes féminines et a reçu une critique dans le New York Times. C'est après un troisième voyage en Europe en 1933 qu'elle conçut son œuvre la plus célèbre, Skating in Central Park, dans le cadre du Public Works of Art Project. Elle passera la dernière partie de sa vie avec son mari au Nouveau Mexique où elle sera encore très prolifique. Nombre de ses œuvres figurent à Bibliothèque du Congrès, au Metropolitan Museum of Art, et àl a New York Public Library, entre autres.

    Agnes Tait (1894-1981) The Old Friend 1954 Lithograph from an edition of 200 signed by the artist in pencil lower right and titled lower center below the image. This image served as the twenty-fourth Prairie Print Makers Presentation Print for distribution to associate members and sale to the organization's membership. Image measures 10.5 x 8.75, sheet is 16.75 x 13, and frame is 20.5 x 17.75 inches. AN ABSENTEE BID PLACED IN ADVANCE COULD LOSE TO A LIVE BID OF EQUAL AMOUNT PLACED LATER. Tait was a member and exhibitor in 1936 of the National Association of Women, a seven-time exhibitor at the Art Institute of Chicago between 1915 and 1936, an exhibitor in three annual exhibitions of the Pennsylvania Academy, and in four annual exhibitions of the National Academy of Design.     early Texas primitive landscape titled "Horse Ranch in the Texas Hill Country". Agnes Gabrielle Tait was born in Greenwich Village in New York City in 1894 but is associated most with New Mexico. Her style was that of a romantic realist with some of her work being allegorical. When she resided in New Mexico and Fort Worth, Texas, she did book illustrations and painted many commissioned portraits as well as cat studies, landscapes and scenes of adobes and churches. Her work can be seen in the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, Weyhe Gallery in New York and many others. Site: 17"H x 21"W; Frame: 24.75"H x 28.75"W. Circa - Mid 20th C.
