ED TADIELLO LONG HORNS CROSSING THE RIVER PAINTING

      Est: $150 - $200

29" by 34.5" framed. The first artistic involvement of Edward Tadiello was with music when he studied the drums and dreamt of a life as a jazz musician. After high school his focus shifted to the visual arts. In various art schools in New York City, most notably The Art Students League and School of the Visual Arts, he studied figure drawing and painting, anatomy, advertising design and illustration. Upon graduating he began his career in illustration, working for various and diverse clients such as Lietz, Burger King, Royal Air Maroc, Varig Airlines, Mary Macfaddon, PSE&G, and Orba Corporation. In 1983 he was commissioned by Barbara Uland of Dell publishing to illustrate his first "Candle Light Romance Cover". To date he has illustrated around 250 Romance, Western and young adult book covers for the Bantam, Doubleday, Dell, Harlequin and Scholastic publishing houses. From 1978 to 1988, Tadiello worked at the JC Penney Company in marketing publications. He was hired as a designer for marketing publications and later became an art director in charge of 3d props and signage for holiday themes. In the mid seventies, he won the Excellence in Illustration award from the N.J. Art Directors Club. Since the late eighties, he has focused more on fine art, creating paintings that centered on the figure, mostly the female form as Angels, dancer, nudes, pin-up and musician. Today he draws inspiration from the work of Rubens, Van Eyck, Rembrandt, Bouguereau and his ever deepening awareness of the Flemish and Venetian techniques of the 1500/1600s. Robert Beverly Hale, the great anatomist with whom he studied once said, "Learn how to draw with your intellect rather then your eyes, then turn it over to your emotions". He subscribes to that approach and keeps it in mind whenever he works.
