    Zoltan Szemerey (Hungarian, 1908-2009) "A Bouquet of Flowers" Signed Original Oil on Canvas Painting in Original Wooden Frame - Zoltan Szemerey was one of the leading Hungarian classical painters of the 1930s and 1940s. He became a professor of Art at the young age of 24, and art critics thought of him as being at the same level as Rembrandt. This beautiful piece by Szemerey is titled "A Bouquet of Flowers", and depicts a bouquet of multi-colored carnations. The painting comes in the original, ornate wooden frame.The piece (including the frame) measures 37" x 30".

    ZOLTÁN SZEMEREY 1908 Budapest - 1983 ebenda 6 Illustrationen zu Sándor Petöfis 'Held János' 6 Aquarelle auf Papier. Unterschiedl. SM (ca. 29,5 x 46 cm). Zum Teil unten links bzw. rechts monogrammiert 'SZZ'. Als Beigabe: 2 Exemplare des leinengebundenen Buches von Sándor Petöfi, 'Held János', illustriert von Zoltán Szemerey, Weissach im Tal 1992. Jew. im Passepartout und hinter Glas gerahmt (ungeöffnet). Zoltán Szemerey, ausgebildet an der Budapester Kunstakademie unter Bertalan Karlowszky, galt als einer der Besten in der ungarischen Malerei der 40er Jahre. Zunächst als Portraitst im Auftrag zahlreicher bekannter Persönlichkeiten tätig, wandte er sich in späterer Zeit der Aquarellmalerei zu. Die Darstellungen des Helden János aus der Erzählung des Sándor Petöfi umfassen die folgenden Szenen: Held János bei den zwölf Räubern, Held János bei der Türkenschlacht, Held János vor dem König, Held János bei den Vetteln, Held János am Strand des Meeres der Welten, Held János kämpft mit dem Drachen.
