Cut paper, silkscreen with acrylic case USA, 2011 Sarah Sze (b. 1969) – American contemporary artist From an edition of 29 Signed by the artist and numbered on the verso of the paper With informational label on accompanying cardboard box Dimensions of sheet: 12 x 7 x 2 ½ in. (30.5 x 17.8 x 6.4 cm) Very good condition Estimate: $4,500-$6,000 A limited edition by Macarthur grant recipient artist, Sarah Sze. This is a laser engraved silkscreened paper work with pop up symmetrical letters. The overall composition was inspired by the standard opthamologist eyecharts used to check vision clarity. Sze’s editions have been predominantly published by the LeRoy Neiman Center for Print Studies at Columbia University where the artist is faculty. This edition was sold out immediately upon its’ release from the publisher in 2011. The work comes with a custom made Plexiglass box for installation needs. Using this display box as an option protects the piece and allows for it to hang perpendicularly off the wall. The case also allows the work to be dramatically lit to bring out a cast shadow effect upon the wall that supports it. Sarah Sze (American, b. 1969) Sarah Sze is a contemporary artist based in New York. She is known for her site specific sculptural installation work that incorporates pedestrian everyday objects. She transforms these materials into complex, imaginative, three-dimensional architectonic arrangements on a grand scale. The artist was awarded her BA degree from Yale University in 1991 and later her MA degree from the School of Visual Arts in NYC. Among the many accolades this artist has achieved in her young career, she is a recipient of a 2003 John and Catherine T. MacArthur Fellow Grant and represented the United States at the 56th Venice Bienniale in 2013. Represented by Tonya Bonakdar gallery in NYC and Victoria Miro in London, Sze’s work is in the permanent collections of The Museum of Modern Art, New York; The Whitney Museum of American Art, New York; The Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum, New York; Los Angeles Museum of Contemporary Art; San Francisco Museum of Modern Art; High Museum of Art, Atlanta, GA; and the Fondation Musée d’Art Moderne, Luxembourg. The artist is currently working on a major art commission for the Metropolitan Transportation Authority at the 96th Street Station, Second Avenue line, New York. Condition In overall very good condition. Some minor scuffing and one very small interior chip on the acrylic case. Shipping costs excl. statutory VAT and plus 2,5% (+VAT) shipping insurance.
