      Jan Sweeney Big Turning Cheetah Bronze on a yew base Signed and numbered 1 of 9 146cm.; 57½ins long The daughter of an Irish Vet Sweeney grew up in the open countryside of East Anglia her early training was at Colchester School of Art followed by three years working in Verona Italy. She first visited Africa in 1985 and the wildlife there has a strong influence on her work she is inspired by studying the animals in their natural habitat their untamed strength and power which is ready to explode into movement. Sweeney's pieces are instantly recognizable having tremendous energy and movement strong textures with the trademark hollow eyes a compelling feature of her work. She is a member of the Society of Animal Artists USA an associate of the Royal British Society of Sculptors and a fellow of the Wildlife Art Society.
