      Est: €10,000 - €16,000

(†) (12821022) (11) Hermann van Swanevelt, ca. 1600 Utrecht – ca. 1655 Paris, attributed LANDSCAPE WITH SHEPHERDS, A COW AND A COASTAL VILLAGE Oil on canvas. Ca. 53 x 160 cm. Herman van Swanevelt travelled to Rome, where he soon became one of the most favoured and popular specialists for landscapes paintings with staffage figures; Swanevelt worked in Rome in a lively exchange with the Flemish landscape artists, but also with the great French masters. The present painting shows exactly this blend of Nordic ambiance, classic tradition and Mediterranean landscapes, which are characteristic of Swanevelts artistic work. (†)
