    Portrait of a Native American Indian Man. Signed lower left. Approx. 24 in H x 18 in W. Born in Los Angeles, CA on Oct. 19, 1907. Ruth was the wife of artist Stanley Swain. Her art teachers were Stanley Reckless, Millard Sheets, Jean Charlot, Leo Katz, and Merrell Gage. She taught at the Chouinard Art School in 1935-36 and later in Glendale Adult Education. She lived in Newberry Park, CA until her demise on Oct. 1, 1999. Exh: Calif. Art Club, 1933; LA County Fair, 1934 (award); Painters & Sculptors of LA, 1935; Glendale AA, 1955.
