Boris Svechnikoff Sold at Auction Prices

b. 1927 - d. 1998

Boris Sveshnikov studied at the Institute of Applied and Decoratives Arts in Moscow, when he was sentenced to several years of forced labor in 1946 due to the unjustified accusation of belonging to an anti-Soviet terrorist group. During this time, many drawings originated. Only after his release in 1954 Svechnikoff could devote himself to painting again. He created works with imaginative, dreamlike subject.

But the thus resulting fidgety surface is offset by a reduced color palette and a peaceful structure of the composition. This results in works of poetic harmony, as in the present painting depicting two female figures in an abstracted landscape. Object is regular taxed. 19% VAT is added to the purchase price for deliveries within the EU. Estimate by Auctionata Expert: 24,000 Euro Condition: The painting is in overall good condition. Occasional small spots of retouching are visibly under UV-light especially at the edges. The simple frame shows signs of use. The painting measures 69 x 49 cm.
