      LAI LOONG SUNG 黎农生 b. Selangor, 1944 FUTURE INTELLIGENCE, 2018 Signed, dated and inscribed (left) Oil on canvas 74 cm x 94 cm Lai Loong Sung graduated from the Kuala Lumpur College of Art in 1970, where he also taught as a Lecturer for 10 years. He has become a full-time artist since 1998, with painting media ranging from woodblock print, oil painting and Chinese ink. His first solo exhibition was held in Kuala Lumpur in 1977. After that, he has had further solo exhibitions in Johor and Malacca, and also in China during 2013. His artworks were displayed in overseas exhibitions before, including Italy and Australia. 黎农生老师于1970年从吉隆坡美术学院毕业，在该院传授艺术有十年之久。他从1998年起成为全职画家，作画媒介涵盖版画、油画以及水墨。1977年，他在吉隆坡举行了第一场个人展览，之后也陆续在柔佛、马六甲和中国（2013年）等地举办了个展。黎老师的艺术品亦曾在国外，如意大利和澳洲等国家展示。

      This finely executed work depicts a local neighbourhood scene, where a group of resting fishermen forming a circle are seen playing a game of chess. Lai Loong Sung received his education at the Kuala Lumpur College of Art. He has held several solo shows in Kuala Lumpur, Johor, and Melaka. His artworks are in the collection of National Art Gallery Malaysia. The woodcut was recently exhibited at Bank Negara Malaysia Museum & Art Gallery, in the exhibition The Art Of Printmaking: Lasting Impressions. 59 x 89cm
