Sturm- Sk 1925' Dimensions: 77 x 90 cm Good condition Provenance: Private collection, Austria Egge Sturm-Skrla's loose landscape paintings have sold for up to €6,000 at international auctions Egge Sturm-Srklas Alpine view from 1925 is characterized by a broad and dynamic brushwork and a subtle tonality. The shapeless mountain peaks oscillate in green, brown, gray and purple and stand out almost imperceptibly from the cloudy sky. The painting is in good condition, showing minor discoloration due to age, slight abrasion and material losses affecting the frame. The overall dimensions, including the frame, are 90.5 x 104 cm. The stretcher measures 77 x 90 cm. Egge Sturm-Skrla (1894-1943) Born in Hungary, Egge Sturm-Skrla was a painter and graphic artist. Between 1907 and 1909, he took private painting lessons with Karl Haunold in Vienna and continued his studies at the Vienna Academy of Fine Arts with Rudolf Bacher and Rudolf Jettmar from 1911 to 1914. He traveled to South Tyrol and Italy, where he learned the fresco techniques with Murr and Bellatti. In 1919, he became a member of the Hagenbund, and in 1921 of the Vienna Künstlerhaus and the 'Neue Vereinigung'. In 1926, he worked on the frescoes of the Salzburg Playhouse along with Anton Faistauer. From 1929 to 1935, he headed a school for fresco painting in Ronco near Ascona in Switzerland. He then returned to Vienna. Today, works by Egge Sturm-Skrla are part of important museum collections, including the Belvedere and the Vienna Museum.
