He immigrated to the United States in 1923, arriving in Boston, MA, with his artist wife Kaethe Kay Irene Strueh (Hungarian American, 1899/1904-1963). Naturalization and census records show she was born December 24, 1904 (though her grave states 1899). Upon entering the United States, their last name was changed to Stry and they petitioned for naturalization in 1939.Eric studied at the National Academy in New York and with his wife, resided in New York and Cape Cod.
