Der Besitzer des Rennpferdes Tinker war Harry Grey, 4th Earl of Stamford (1715–1768), der Ländereien in Leicestershire und Staffordshire besass. Lady Mary Booth, Countess of Stamford, erbte 1758 Dunham Massey in Cheshire von ihrem Ehemann und es scheint wahrscheinlich, dass die Landschaft im Hintergrund unseres Gemäldes dieses Anwesen darstellt, welches sich unweit von Knutsford befindet, wo der Künstler Thomas Stringer tätig war.
