Richard Stringer Sold at Auction Prices

b. 1959 -

Richard Stringer is a Melbourne based artist working across the fields of sculpture, painting and video. He has held twelve solo exhibitions in Australia and has participated in numerous exhibitions within Australia, New Zealand and Singapore and also co-curated exhibitions at Gertrude Contemporary, Conical and Sculpture Square, Singapore. He has received research funding from the Australia Council, Arts Victoria and the City of Melbourne and has taken up residencies in Italy, New Zealand, Burkina Faso and recently at the Berlin Milchof Studio’s in Berlin.

His work is represented in the National Gallery of Victoria and private collections in N.Z, Europe and North America. His public sculptures include ‘Queen Bee’ at Eureka Tower in Melbourne and ‘Monument for a Public Building’ at the St Kilda Town Hall. Richard is a currently on leave from a PhD at Monash University for which he received an Australian Postgraduate Award. In 2017 he received first prize in the Deakin University Contemporary Small Sculpture Award. Richard works part time in Australia as a field archaeologist and is a senior assistant of the Alampra Archaeological Mission in Cyprus.
