Attrib to George Storm (Pennsylvania, 1830-1913)

      Est: $250 - $500

DESCRIPTION: Attributed to George Storm (Pennsylvania, 1830-1913). Painting. Oil on canvas. The Pennsylvania Canal at Fort Hunter. The work stylistically relates to a similar painting in the collection of the State Museum of Pennsylvania in the Hall of Technology signed by George Storm. Born in Johnstown, Storm came to Harrisburg in the late 19th century and was among the most skilled landscapists in his time. This painting with its greenish cast is typical of his work. Storm rarely signed his paintings (several unsigned examples with strong attributions are in the collection of the Historical Society of Dauphin County). In gesso frame with painted liner, probably original. MEASUREMENTS: 15-3/4" x 25-1/2". Overall with frame 26-1/4" x 36-1/4". CONDITION: Very good. Some light surface flaking. Wear to frame and liner.
