        Harold M. Stevenson Male Nude Still Life Painting

        New York, Oklahoma, France,1929-2018 Depicts a hand holding a broken masculine figure between their fingers. Stevenson attended the University of Oklahoma before moving to Paris where he exhibited in numerous European galleries. In 1962, Stevenson's work was exhibited alongside Andy Warhol, Claes Oldenburg, Roy Lichtenstein, Robert Moskowitz, Robert Indiana, George Segal, Jim Dine, Peter Agostini, James Rosenquist, Wayne Thiebaud and Tom Wesselmann at the Sidney Janis Gallery as part of their "New Realists" exhibit. He was good friends with Andy Warhol and starred in some of Warhol's early art films.

Restored loss with expert over-painting to upper left corner. A-. The Federal Civil Defense Administration was organized by President Harry S. Truman on December 1, 1950 with the chief aim of protecting the United States against a potential nuclear attack or biological warfare. The administration issued posters and brochures on emergency preparedness, communism, and fallout shelters.

The Federal Civil Defense Administration played to fear, elevating Cold War worst-case scenarios as a means of galvanizing the public into action. These posters were distributed across the country with the blank area at the bottom overprinted with the names of local businesses that were supporting regional civil defense initiatives.

The Federal Civil Defense Administration was founded on January 12, 1951, as a Cold War Era response to the first Soviet nuclear bomb explosion (in 1949) and the Korean War. The administration focused on preparing the American public for, and protecting them from a potential nuclear attack. Underfunded, they executed this largely through the release of printed material (posters, brochures and films), but also by constructing bomb and fallout shelters.
