She attended the Art Institute of Chicago in 1908, then left to study in Paris, exhibiting there in 1913 at the American Artists Club and International Artists Union of Paris. She also exhibited in the Salon d''Automne and Societe Nationales des Beaux Arts in Paris. Sterchi continued to exhibit in Chicago, Santa Barbara Museum and Arden Studios in NYC, but moved to Taos, then later to Phoenix, Arizona.
